Dad always said that he just wanted a rock for a headstone. Well, we found a rock for him and customized it a bit. Mom, Joel, and I took the Jeep out one day and found the perfect rock, a huge heavy one. Then we built a concrete base for it and Jeremy and I went to the Aberdeen cemetary and poured a cement pad with flower pots to place the monument on.
Tim helped out with the artistic design of the plaque. Premier Technology in Blackfoot, Id cut out the silhouette of the plaque and Cameron at CD machine engraved the lettering as seen in the photo below.
On set up day, Jeremy, Joel, Daniel and I used a boom truck after staying up all night getting the engraving done, polishing the stainless, welding the "BECK" on the plaque, and then fastening the plaque to the rock
The two eagles are a symbol for Dad and Mom, the tree is a symbol of their family with nine branches, one for each of their children.

Unfortunately, it took us 4 years to find just the right materials and design for Dad and Mom. I feel it was worth the wait for the end result. A one-of-a kind, unique and symbolic memorial that no headstone company could have ever produced. Every drop of blood, every drop of sweat, every broken strap, every strained muscle and ligament was well worth it for such an awesome man!
